Introduction:
Some years ago, I wrote a ten letter series entitled: “Letters to the Black Man and Woman.” Even though, this was my first attempt to research and write about our history: I still wanted the information in those letters to have been as well thought out and as accurate as possible. I feel that with the information available to me at the time, I accomplished that purpose. Those original letters found their way into the hands of many people. The information in these letters was so thought provoking, that it was published in several black periodicals of the time. An owner of a very popular radio station asked to read the letters, and discussions springing from the topics found in the letters were discussed on her radio station. The letters eventually took on a life of their own, and became almost an underground movement. I began to receive requests for the letters from people all over the country. Young black men incarcerated in this nation’s prison systems requested these letters. The letters even came full circle in my life. My daughter, who was a very young girl when these letters were first written, years later met a young man who began to preach to her about the importance of these letters to the black community. Imagine his surprise when my daughter told him that her father was the author of those letters and then brought him home to meet me. Over the years as these letters began to be passed from one person to the next, a problem occurred. The sequence to the series became so lost that most people never had the opportunity to read the entire series.
After a little more than ten years, I have decided to revise this series. I feel now that those letters were ahead of their time. I feel that the recent events in this nation and the events of the world community shows, more then ever, that the time for these letters is now! As black people, we have been waiting for more than four hundred years for some straightforward answers to our many questions. Although, the first series attempted to answer many of these questions, it ultimately failed. Not only does the new series cover the subjects of the old series, but the unanswered questions left by the original series are covered in this series. This new series is well thought out and very well documented, and it will provide the readers with all the answers the black community has been waiting to receive from their (God). The subjects covered in this new set of letters is so powerful and thought provoking that these letters are bound (destined) to be the most controversial topic of the 21st century. In fact, I think this would be a good place to take a few lines from the first letter of the new series:
“It seems only fair for me to give, in advance, a caution about what to expect from these letters. Regardless to your religious background, these letters are going to challenge everything you have come to accept as truth! All the questions you’ve ever had concerning religion, and some you’ve never had will be addressed in this series. So, prepare yourselves for a truly mind boggling experience.”
That’s a pretty bold statement to make and yet: It’s nowhere near to being the most amazing revelation the reader will experience while reading these letters. Something that is totally new, a “NUKEY OF KNOWLEDGE,” is waiting to be revealed to the reader in this series.
